Department of Molecular Virology
The Department of Molecular Virology (Head: G. Anton) is focused on projects directed to virus-cancer relationship. The role of epigenetics in the transformation of normal cells to cancer ones is deciphered using various techniques like next generation sequencing, ChIP-seq and bisulphite treatment for DNA methylation sites (A. Botezatu and IV Iancu). Exploitation of the reversible nature of epigenetics for diseases treatment is also one of our research direction (A. Plesa).
